Melisse and Michael began planning their May 2008 wedding right after their May 2007 engagement. Michael asked Melisse to marry him while on a visit to the Charleston Tea Plantation. He popped the question while they sat on a picnic bench under the bellowing oak trees. From one historic Charleston memory to another…Melisse and Michael knew they wanted their wedding to take place in the heart of downtown Charleston. They had their ceremony at the First Baptist Church, then celebrated with a reception at Society Hall. “I wanted my wedding day to be simple, timeless, and elegant” and Melisse wanted a gown to reflect that vision. She chose a silk satin gown by Anne Barge, embellished with just the right amount of silver embroidery at the bust and waistline. Melisse says she felt “stunning, glamorous, and most importantly comfortable”. When we asked what advice she would give to future brides, she said to “take a deep breath before you walk down the aisle, it’s truly an amazing experience.”
